The National Survey on Health and Disability (NSHD): A Robust Dataset You Can Use

NSHD lead researchers, Noelle Kurth and Jean Hall, present an overview of the National Survey on Health on Disability (NSHD) instrument, methodologies utilized and selected findings (including publications) from the two administrations of the survey to date. Description of the establishment of the NSHD Data Analysis Group is provided, including detailed information regarding public access to the NSHD dataset and how to participate in the established analysis group. The NSHD dataset is rich and robust, and while CHRIL researchers and a handful of others conducted analyses since late 2018, it also has the potential to provide additional insights into many factors associated with health, insurance coverage, access to services and independent living. A Q&A and discussion of how NSHD data could enhance the research efforts of those participating is included – the NSHD is truly a dataset YOU can use!
